2010 automated elections may spur the most number of election contests in HRET since 1987

The recently concluded election may potentially be the most contested congressional elections since 1987.

As of May 27, 2010, the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal has received forty-nine (49) election contests relative to the recently concluded May 10, 2010 elections. Forty (40) of these cases are election protests while nine (9) are petitions for quo warranto.

Atty. Daisy Panga-Vega, Secretary of the Tribunal, said that more cases are expected to be filed with Tribunal after the proclamation of the party-list candidates.
